Children Education Allowance and Reimbursement of Tuition Fee have been merged and now it is known as ‘Children Education Allowance Scheme’
Children Education Allowance is provided for dependent children including step and adopted children and study in a recognized school
If both husband and wife are central government employees then only one of them can claim for Children Education Allowance
CEA can be claimed for three children who born up to 31.12.1987 and such employees whose children are born after 31.12.1987 can claim for CEA for their two children
If a government employee’s second child is a twin or has multiple births then he can claim Children Education Allowance for all children
The rate of Children Education Allowance with effect from 01.07.2017 is Rs.2250/- per month per child
