SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Exam 2022 : Age Limit (as on 01 January 2022)

Age Limit for Stenographer Grade C : Candidate age should be minimum 18 years and maximum 30 years as on 01 January 2022. That is, the candidate must have been born not earlier than 02 January 1992 and not later than 01 January 2004.

Age Limit for Stenographer Grade D :Candidate age should be minimum 18 years and maximum 27 years as on 01 January 2022. That is, the candidate must have been born not earlier than 02 January 1995 and not later than 01 January 2004.

Age relaxation : The relaxation given in the age limit is as follows-

Application fee

The application fee for SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Exam 2022 is Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred only) .

Female candidates of all categories, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) are exempted from paying the application fee .

The application fee can be submitted both online and offline. For online, candidates can use BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card . The last date for submission of online fee is 06 September 2022 till 11 PM.

Off-line submission can be done through Challan at any branch of SBI. The last date for generating the challan is 05 September 2022 and the last date for depositing the fee through challan is 06 September 2022 up to 11 PM.

Educational Qualifications :

As on 05.09.2022, candidates must have passed 12th standard (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Important Points:

i) All the candidates who have obtained degrees/diplomas/certificates through Open and Distance Learning mode are also eligible to apply for this examination. But keep in mind that Universities or Board have been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission.

ii) All candidates who are declared qualified in the Computer Based Examination and the Skill Test will be required to produce all the relevant Certificates in original such as Marks Sheets, Provisional Certificates etc. for completion of 12th standard or equivalent examination as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification.

iii) Candidates who fail to produce the above mentioned documents, the candidature of those candidates will be cancelled by the Commission.

iv) The candidates who are able to prove, by documentary evidence that the result of the qualifying examination was declared on or before the cut-off date and he/she has been declared passed, will also be considered to have met the required educational qualifications

SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Exam 2022 Selection Process

To get selected in the SSC Stenographer exam, a candidate has to appear in two stages. Which are mentioned below-

Stage-I- Computer-Based test (CBT)- It is an online exam in which a total of 200 questions are asked.

Stage-II- Skill Test – Candidates have to appear in this stage for typing test

To get the final selection in this exam, candidates have to clear both the stages of examination. Candidates who fail to qualify the CBT exam will not be allowed to appear in the skill test.

The final result will be declared based on the performance of the candidate in both these stages and no medical test or interview will be conducted thereafter.

SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Exam 2022 Exam Pattern

SSC Stenographer 2022 Tier 1 exam will be conducted in an online mode with multiple-choice objective-type questions.  This paper will consist three sections – General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and General English. The detail of the Examination is mentioned below

Important Points:

Total Duration of Exam – 2 Hours (2 hours and 40 minutes for the Visually Handicapped candidates) 

Exam language - The Tier-I Exam Question paper will be conducted in both in English and Hindi (only General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness parts)

Negative Marking- Each question is assigned 1 mark. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.

Important Points:

For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability, there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning/ General Awareness Paper.

Tier-II – Skill Test in Stenography

The candidates who clear the tier 1 exam i.e. computer based test will have to appear in the skill test for stenography.

There are two stages in this test.

Stage-I- In the first stage candidates will be provided pen and paper. Thereafter someone will read any written text in Hindi or English (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. Candidates are required to write down the Speech on paper provided at exam center.

Stage-II- In this stage of the test, candidates will have to type (transcribe) the text on computer that they have written on paper in stage-I. The skill test matter is required to be transcribed on a computer only within a prescribed time limit which is given below-

There are two types of error in skill test are considered in this exam-

Half errors in the skill test: Spelling mistakes, Typing ambiguity, Wrong apostrophe in a word, Improper usage of singular and plural nouns, Improper Capital letter usage, Spacing between words

Full errors in skill test: Omitting a word or figure, Substitution of a wrong word or a figure, Unwanted addition of word, Handwritten corrections

SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Exam 2022 : Post Overview

What is SSC Stenographer?

The staff selection commission conducts the competitive entrance exam for the recruitment of Stenographer Grade C and Grade D jobs at the national level.

These stenographers selected through this examination are posted in various ministries and departments of the Central Government.

Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’ are Non-Gazetted posts.

SSC Stenographer Salary

SSC Stenographer Grade C and D come under different pay scale. According to 6th CPC, wherein Grade Pay system was there, the Post of Stenographer C was under 4200 / 4600 Grade Pay and Stenographer D was under 2400 Grade Pay.

As you know, after implementation of 7th CPC, the salary structure of a government employee is decided according to the Pay Matrix.  When you see the Pay Matrix, the Pay Band for Grade Pay 4200 and 4600 is 9300 – 34800 & for Grade Pay 2400 is 5200 – 20200.

Pay Level for 4200, 4600 and 2400 is 6, 7 and 4 respectively and the entry Basic Pay is 35400/-, 44900/- and 25500/- respectively.
